Last week in our ‘What hen are you?’ article, we checked out what was on offer for #ThePamperedHen and in part two of our #WhatHen series, we’re seeing what activities and fun there is to  be had across The New Forest for the #TheSportyHen!

If it’s more of an action packed weekend you’re wanting then you’ve come to the right place.  Right on the water, we have an abundance of activities right on the doorstep from a relaxing kayak up the Beaulieu river to a day’s yacht charter out on The Solent!  Active and serious fun to be had for anyone fancying themselves as a sporty hen!

Sailing

Start your day with a lunchtime BBQ at The Haven Bar & Bistro then take a gentle afternoon sail across to the Isle of Wight before taking a dip (if you’re brave enough!) in the waters of a secluded bay.  Or if it’s an adrenaline filled RIB ride and a bit of sightseeing on the island that you’re after, then that too can be arranged.  Whatever your preference, LYC Events can plan an itinerary to suit you and after a day of fun on the water, come back to your bell tent for some well earned R&R!  For package options or more information, visit www.lycevents.co.uk or call the office on 01590 688007.

Horse riding

With miles and miles of beautiful scenery to be explored in The New Forest, it’s one of the best places in the south to come and enjoy on horseback.  Set in the grounds of the Burley Manor Hotel, Burley Manor riding stables will welcome you and your friends for a 1 or 2 hour hack or if you prefer, they even offer pub rides!  To book your ride, call 01425 403489 or visit www.burleymanorridingstables.com for more information.

Wakeboarding

For an action packed hen do to remember, why not pitch your bell tents in Redshoot campsite, close to the New Forest Water Park so you’re close-by and ready for some wakeboarding adventures?  (We would suggest we pitch you directly at the water park itself, but they can be strict with single sex groups including hen and stag do’s!)  Grab your board and helmet and head out on the cable – whether beginner or advanced pro, there’s a cable to suit everyone and they even offer one on one tuition if it’s required.  If you’d rather, kneeboarding is also an option and there’s even an inflatable aqua park with trampolines, monkey bars, swings and much more.  You’ll be glad to relax after a day’s adventuring here!!  To book your slot visit www.newforestwaterpark.co.uk

Kayaking/Canoeing

For another fun day on the water, take an early morning kayak up the Beaulieu river and enjoy the sounds of the wild!  All equipment is provided and no experience is required.  You can choose from one or two hour guided tours and you can even combine it with some other activities at the centre to make a day of it.  Why not try some archery, or hire a bike and cycle along the waters edge.  You can stop in at the Master Builders for some lunch time drinks and food and then head back out on the water for an afternoon team raft building session!  Create your own itinerary for a weekend to remember.  Your bell tents could be only a 5 minute drive away from the action where you can return after your days excitement for a BBQ and some campfire drinks.  Sound good?  Check out full details at www.newforestactivities.co.uk
